New Land Development Opens in Talvern

A promising New Land Development Opens in Talvern, Babonneau, is now offering seventy-three Saint Lucians the opportunity to own their own piece of the island.

This initiative is a collaborative effort by the Government of Saint Lucia, the National Housing Corporation (NHC), and Fresh Start Construction Ltd., aimed at addressing the island’s housing shortage.

Housing Minister Richard Frederick, speaking at a ceremony on Tuesday, explained the pricing strategy for the 73 plots. Initially priced at about $17 per square foot, the government, with the guidance of Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, reduced the price to $14.50 per square foot. Frederick highlighted that this price adjustment underscores the prime minister’s dedication to making homeownership more accessible for Saint Lucians.

Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, the MP for Babonneau, expressed her enthusiasm for the new development. She hopes the project will not only enable residents to secure their own plots but also boost local employment. “I’m also hoping that it creates opportunities for employment, because we have a challenge for employment for persons in the Babonneau constituency, Talvern, Fond Assau area. So I’m going to keep a keen eye in that direction,” she stated.

This new development in Talvern, Babonneau, is poised to invigorate the local real estate market and stimulate economic activity in the area.
